What are your operating hours?

Our outpatient and casualty services operate 24/7. The dialysis unit runs Monday to Saturday, 5:00am to 7:00pm. Other departments have specific hours - please call ahead for specialized services.

Do you accept SHA (Social Health Authority) cover?

Yes, Shifah Hospital is SHA accredited. Please bring your SHA card and confirm eligibility at reception before treatment begins. Our team will guide you through the process.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept SHA cover, major insurance providers, M-Pesa, cash and bank transfers. For insurance patients, please confirm coverage with your provider before your visit.

How do I book an appointment?

You can call us at 0718 009 458, visit our contact page, or walk in for outpatient consultations. For specialized services like dialysis, we recommend calling ahead to schedule.

Where is the hospital located?

We have two locations: Main Hospital at Makunga (opposite Makunga Secondary School, Kitale-Kapenguria Road) for inpatient and specialist services, and Town Clinic at Ambwere Plaza for outpatient access.

What should I bring for my first visit?

Please bring your national ID, SHA card (if applicable), insurance card, any previous medical records, and a list of current medications. For emergency cases, come immediately - documentation can be handled later.

Do you have ambulance services?

Yes, we provide ambulance services for patient transfers and emergencies. Contact us immediately for ambulance dispatch.

Can I visit admitted patients?

Yes, we have designated visiting hours for inpatient wards. Please check with the nursing station for specific times and any current visitor restrictions.
